This Past Sunday (17-MAY-09)

Greetings all!

We were given the opportunity to share one of our newest originals at New Hope Christian Fellowship this past Sunday! What a great time that was. We had 3 new musicians playing with us for the first time. Just the Friday before we had a chance to sit down and jam with these remarkable individuals and had a wonderful evening of some impromptu praise & worship along with Mike McCleary (rhythm/lead for New Hope Christian Fellowship). We went over our newest song Praise You and I was thrilled with what these guys added to the overall sound.

We had Daniel on drums, Brooke on lead guitar, and Ike on bass. It was AWESOME. Both Daniel and Brooke are 16 and have only been playing for about a year - they are both gifted musicians. Ike is a former professional bass player who has given his life to the Lord just this year and is now picking up the bass for the first time in 10 years to offer his talents to ministry. If we have our way, you'll definetly see these guys playing with us again soon! Thank you Daniel, Brooke, & Ike!

Also, a special thanks to Mike for running sound for us. We appreciate the talent and patience it takes to make live sound sound good!

As always, keep on eye on our schedule. We would love to have you come out and worship with us!

peace,
thom

Saturday Night Alive (May 2 '09)

Another great time in praise of the King of Kings! There was such a nice breeze out that night, we had all the doors propped open and with the volume cranked no less sending praises out into the streets! This SNA marks the last until a re-launch due later this year. We will be evaluating, regrouping, rethinking and always praying for the new direction for this ministry.

On the bright side, until the relaunch, this is going to be an opportunity for MissionTrip to seek a few new venues this summer. We are currently planning to setup two fundraisers to support foreign missions to Honduras and will also be looking to get set up with other some local events. Check out our Schedule for up to date info.

Saturday Night Alive (Feb 7 '09)

Another good time at the Edenton downtown marina. It was certainly an intimate setting. We slimmed down to one guitar and two vocals all running through one acoustic amp. Including us, there were 7 adults, 2 teens, and 5 children. The wagon full of ferns in the middle of the room made for nice ambience! We are hoping to see this ministry reach many more people in Edenton as the year moves forward. Please keep this ministry in your prayers and tell everyone you know to come check it out.

Venezuela Mission Study at Ramoth Gilead

I would like to thank those at Ramoth Gilead Baptist Church for having me out on November 13th to be the guest speaker for the Venezuelan mission study. There was a good turn out with 4 churches from the area to come to learn about the study.

In preparing for this study, I learned much about those in Venezuela. What I did find very interesting is that their environmental surroundings, basic living situations: poverty, etc., and most aspects of culture and religion were very parallel to those who live in Tijuana, Mexico. In missions to Tijuana 2 years ago, I was able to see first hand many of the difficulties that the people there face as well as experience their culture. While learning about those in Venezuela and seeing this parallelism, it felt as if I had visited Venezuela myself.

I truly enjoyed teaching for the study and I hope that those who attended had a good time as well, learned much about Venezuela and mission opportunities there, felt inspired to become involved in some way in missions, and left different than they came.

One thing that I found funny was the question that was posed to both myself and my husband which was, "Why is she speaking for the event??" The feelings of being insufficient for the "job" kept coming to me. My husband would remind me that I have been on missions, that I have a Bach. in Missions, Evangelism, etc. and that speaking is something that I do; nevertheless, feelings of inadequacy plagued me.

Satan has an interesting way of trying to keep believers from doing what the Lord has called them to do. --You are too young.. You don't have enough experience... Who are you to do this work...Someone else could do it better...-- Plaguing thoughts could go on as these that came to me. I encourage you to stand fast in the work that the Lord has laid out for you to do and as I came to see at the end, it will work out. Even when Satan is attacking us from one side, the Lord is encouraging us from the other maybe even with words from a kind husband or a friend which helps keep us going the way the Lord designed us to go.

May you be blessed as you do the Lords work and feel encouraged along the way.

Saturday Night Alive (Nov 1 '08)

Thank you Cale Retreat Center and New Hope Christian Fellowship! What an awesome time we had in a intimate setting with some great friends offering our praises and prayers to the One who makes all things new!

The worship time went so smooth. Chrystiane really has a way of connecting the dots so to speak. We hadnt planned on going through the entire set straight, but eveything just flowed so well; you could really feel the spirit move in that place!

Pastor Greg's word was challenging. We had opened our worship set with a fun tune by Superchic[k] called Hero (click here for lyrics) that talks about being a hero in other peoples live simply by choosing to do the right thing. Pastor Greg used the Parable of the Good Samaritan from Luke 10:25-37 (click here for some interesting insight). It was so awesome to see the parallelisms there about choosing to do the right thing or to be a good neighbor to someone. This is what Jesus expects of each one of us.

We are looking forward to the next SNA just in time for the Christmas season. Mark your calendars for Dec 6th and come join us!

peace,
Thom
